macOS VPN setup for travelers to China

The macOS client is a universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel). Notarization is still pending, so users should expect the normal Gatekeeper approval steps on first launch. Setup takes about five minutes.

Install

1. Download the .dmg from unblockmevpn.com/downloads.html.
2. Drag the app to Applications.
3. Launch it. macOS will prompt to install a VPN system extension — approve it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
4. Sign in.
5. Connect to Hong Kong and verify.

Recommended settings

• Launch at login
• Connect on launch to last server
• Kill switch on
• Allow access on lock screen — lets the tunnel re-establish while you are away from the laptop

Apple Silicon vs Intel

The installer detects the chip and installs the correct binary. Performance is effectively identical on both — the bottleneck on a VPN is network throughput, not CPU.
